4 Dobel Tequila Cocktails To Make With The Encuentros Bar Set
Dobel, the premium tequila brand, partnered with homeware designers and glass crafters to create a limited edition 3 piece set of barware including a mixing jug, stirrer, and jigger. All inspired by Mexico.
And let me tell you, it is gorgeous!
I'll get more into each piece of this set and why I freaking love it so much. But let’s take this one step at a time. First and foremost, if you’ve never heard of Dobel, you’re probably wondering who the hell they are and if they are worth being on your ‘to-try’ list.
Dobel Tequila
Dobel Tequila comes from 11 generations of Tequila makers and is named after the founder, Juan Domingo Beckmann.
The ultra-premium Tequila produced by Dobel combines Tequila making tradition with innovation. They’ve crossed a few world firsts of there list such as with Humito - the world’s first smoked silver tequila.
And there hero product, Dobel Diamante the world’s first-ever cristalino multi-aged tequila, which also happens to be the best-selling ultra-premium tequila in its home land Mexico.
Dobel Diamante tasting notes
With this tequila, expect a complex infusion of sweet flavours: caramel, honey and maple, with nutty and vanilla flavours.
On a personal note, I found this to be really grassy, somewhat herbaceous of a flavour. Which is a fantastic pairing for lime.
You can purchase this wonderful expression and Amazon UK here. As well as all there other expressions.
Dobel Humito
The world’s first smoked silver tequila, the creation of the clear liquid was sparked 200 years ago. It is 100% blue agave and its smokiness is achieved solely through channelling the complexity and richness of the environment.
Expect satisfying bouquet of sweet caramel flavours with honey top notes, layered with the essence of fresh cut mesquite wood.
As always, a personal note. This tequila reminded me a lot in aroma and flavour of popcorn. Yes, I said popcorn. A weird one I know, how can tequila taste like popcorn? I don't know. Maybe it’s the butteryness or something. Either way, that’s what I get!
You can purchase Humito from Amazon UK here and see if you get popcorn, or if I’m just talking out my backside.
Encuentros Bar Set
With a shared passion for preserving and uplifting Mexican craft, Mexico’s fastest growing ultra-premium tequila brand, Maestro DOBEL, commissioned Revolution of Forms to curate this year’s edition of ‘Celebrate Brilliance’.
Together, they partnered with award winning designer Liliana Ovalle to create Encuentros: a limited edition bar set comprising three artisanal pieces, designed and inspired by Mexico.
Conceived by Ovalle and handcrafted by glass artist Diego Vides Borrell and artisan collective And Jacob, Encuentros brings Mexican cocktail-serving rituals to our homes. This exquisite set is available to purchase exclusively at Harvey Nichols and online.
Mixing Jar
The hand blown glass mixing jar incorporates smoky, black gradients–referencing the hot ovens which bake the agave. The organic imperfections and flow of the black colouration could only be obtained by the expert artistry of glass blower Diego Vides Borrell. Borrell, a local contemporary Mexican artisan, is dedicated to progressing the Mexican glass movement by working closely with handblown and recycled glass, to combine functionality and high-end design.
Stirrer
The set also includes a glass stirrer crowned with a silver tip, inspired by the ‘Coa’, a special hoe used for harvesting agave as seen in the below image.
Jigger
Inspired by monolithic sculpting, the jigger is made from Negro del Sur marble found in Guerrero and Chiapas. Hand-carved by eight brothers under artisan collective And Jacob, this innovative jigger incorporates to the set the long-standing tradition of stone carving in Mexico.

Next we have my signature cocktail inspired by Dobel and the Encuentros bar set.
‘Diamond In The Rough’
This cocktail is my Diamond in the rough. Every part of this cocktail I put my creativity into, from the recipe to the serve. Which is why this, is my diamond in the rough.
Here’s how I went about my creative and inspired cocktail crafting journey.
Creating my own painted cocktail glass
For this cocktail I really let my creativity go wild. Inspired by the beauty of this bar set inspired me to create an interesting glass to serve the cocktail.
I just couldn’t make the cocktail with this beautiful set and tasty tequila, then serve it in any bog standard glass.
And so, I picked up some paints, blacks and whites inspired by the colours of the Encuentros set. Then took an abstract approach to created the below photo’d glass.
As you can see from the above. My abstract approach really was inspired by the set you can see in the distance.
Afterwards, and after a good tasting of the Dobel Diamante, I got to work on crafting a cocktail inspired by my newly crafted glass. I found Cacao blanc to be a good contrast for the grassy and vanilla notes of the Dobel Diamante.
So I kept it simple, something that lets the Tequila shine but is easy enough to recreate from any home without knowledge of techniques or having to make anything from scratch (unless you want to create your own glass that is).
I then had to garnish the cocktail right? So inspired by the chocolate in the cocktail I came up with this…
As you can see, I took an abstract approach similar to with the paints. But this time, with chocolate, so its edible. result.
I first melted down white chocolate and roughly spread it so there’s still lumps and bumps on top. Then squirted, threw, and dragged black colouring through the top to create an almost marble like effect similar to the Encuentros jigger but flipped. So instead of mostly dark with white streaks, My garnish was mostly white with dark streaks. Contrast.
But enough about that. Here is the cocktail recipe so you can make it yourself and judge it from the taste.

For the next cocktail we’re going less serious.
For this, I wanted to make something that tasted like cola bottles. Why? Because, well, I was really craving cola bottles. Just something that tastes really bloody tasty, you know?
So this is what I came up with.
Dobel Cola

For this last cocktail I wanted to make something spirit-forward with a focus on Dobel Humito. A smoked tequila with the subtle flavour of wood. I paired the smoked flavour with a nut orgeat then as a nod to that tequila flavour, I served the cocktail in a wooden cup to bring everything together.
It also once again brought everything back to the Encuentros set. By stirring the cocktail with a glass stirrer in a handblown glass mixing jug, measuring the ingredients along the way with a stone inspired marble jigger then serving it in wood… It just brought together all 3 elements.
So mixing this cocktail is more then the end taste, its a experience of natural elements along the way as you mix the drink.
