Beergarita Ingredients and Bar Tools
Ingredients You'll Need:
1 1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz triple sec
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
1 bottle of Mexican beer (such as Corona)
Salt for rimming (optional)
Ice
Bar Tools:
Strainer
Citrus juicer
Rimming dish (if salting the rim)
The Method
Crafting the perfect Beergarita is a delicate dance of flavors. Here's a detailed breakdown of the magic mix:
Rim the glass (optional): To start, you have the option to rim your glass with salt. Simply run a lime wedge around the rim and dip it into a dish of salt, ensuring an even coat.
Shake it up: In a shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously to chill the mixture and allow the flavors to meld.
Strain into glass: Using a strainer, pour the shaken concoction into a Margarita glass. This step ensures a smooth, well-mixed base for your Beergarita.
Top with beer: Now comes the fun part – topping your creation with beer. Select a Mexican beer or your favorite light beer. Crack it open and top your beergarita. Optionally, you can tip the beer upside down into your glass so the beer bottle is the garnish. However, if you’re doing this, I’d recommend serving your beergarita in a rocks glass with ice so it’s heavier and doesn’t fall over when you add the beer bottle.
Garnish: Complete your Beergarita with a garnish of a lime wedge. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides an additional burst of citrus aroma as you take each sip.
How to Prepare in a Pitcher
Pitcher Perfection:
Multiply the joy: Planning to entertain a group? Scale up the ingredients by the desired number of servings to prepare a pitcher of Beergaritas.
Pop the pitcher into the refrigerator until you're ready to serve. When the time comes, pour the chilled mixture into individual glasses filled with ice, and top each with your chosen beer. It's a fuss-free way to share the Beergarita love with friends.
Recipe FAQs
Can I use any beer?
Absolutely! The choice of beer is a delightful experiment waiting to happen. While some prefer light beers for their refreshing quality, others enjoy the complexity a craft beer can bring. Feel free to explore and find the beer that complements your Beergarita preference. My top recommendation would be a Mexican Beer.
What if I don't have triple sec?
No need to worry. If your bar is lacking triple sec, you can easily substitute it with any orange-flavored liqueur. The goal is to maintain that citrusy kick that adds character to your Beergarita.
Can I make it non-alcoholic?
For a non-alcoholic version make this non-alcoholic Margarita mocktail and top it with a non-alcoholic beer.
Variations and Substitutions
Make It Your Own
The Beergarita is a canvas waiting for your creative brushstrokes. Here are a couple of variations to spark your imagination:
1. Spicy Kick
For those who enjoy a bit of heat, add a dash of hot sauce or muddle some jalapeño slices. The spiciness pairs wonderfully with the citrusy notes, creating a dynamic flavor profile. You can also use your own Jalapeno Tequila and use that for the base of your Beergarita.
2. Fruity Burst
Experiment with different flavored beers or introduce a splash of your preferred fruit juice for a burst of fruity goodness. This variation adds an extra layer of complexity to your Beergarita. Use this watermelon margarita as the base for something more fruity.
Expert Tips

Instructions
- Add everything apart from the beer to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well.
- Strain into a Margarita Glass then top with Mexican beer.
Notes
If you want the beer sticking out the top of your cocktail, you might be easier making this in a rocks glass half filled with ice so it doesn't topple over. To do this, crack the beer and quickly stick it into the glass upside down.
