Yet another recipe perfect for spending Cinco de Mayo in style, this time using Tequila and Tepache for a delicious tepache cocktail.

Tepache Cocktails

Tepache is great on it’s own and great as a fermented non-alcoholic sipper. But I like a good mixed drink. Which is why today I’m taking that tepache and making a tepache cocktail. Let’s face it, tepache cocktails are too few. It’s a great ingredient for mixing in cocktails.

It also pairs beautifully with Tequila and Mezcal.

Tepache is sweet but can be fermented dry, you control the sweetness and you control the flavor. And speaking of flavor, tepache is packed full of it. So why not mix that and get creative with some tepache cocktails? Use this flavor pairing guide, see what goes well with pineapple and use that to create your own tepache cocktails.

Pear and Juniper Tepache

Though this recipe is easy to make and perfect for batching, there is a little prep that needs to go into it, you have to make a Pear and Juniper tepache.

Tepache is a probiotic fermented beverage made sustainable by using pineapple rinds and is uterly delicious. This version is my light and spring feel twist made with pear and juniper.

I won’t spend too long going on about what tepache is or how it’s made, I’ve already covered that in depth with my full tepache guide and home recipe here.

As for how to make the pear and juniper tepache, follow my full recipe which includes a full walkthrough video here.

Tequila Mocktail

This cocktails works great as a non-alcoholic version. If you’re going down that route I recommend using Lyre’s agave blanco. This spirit is a non-alcoholic tequila styled beverage from the lovely people at Lyre’s. This is one of two in there tequila styled range, this one in particular ‘Lyre’s Agave Blanco Spirit’ is most similar to a blanco tequila.

Their other variation is Lyre’s Agave Reserva which is much more similar to a reposado tequila. Both of which you can shop below.
