Easter Creme Egg Cocktail Recipe

creme egg cocktail with chocolate rim, creme egg garnish and a cadbury cream egg next to it

The best cocktail to celebrate easter with.

Easter doesn’t just have to be egg hunts and children’s parties. Easter can a great time for us adults to indulge in some rich creamy cocktails. Case in point - This Cadbury crème egg cocktail.

Cadbury Crème Egg

Remember those Easter baskets filled to the brim with brightly colored eggs and chocolate treats? For many of us, the Cadbury Creme Egg was always the crown jewel of the bunch. The way that creamy fondant center oozed out when you took that first bite – it's like an explosion of sweetness that just screams Easter joy.

So of course, why wouldn’t you want a cocktail inspired by that?

Now from what I hear in my extensive 5 minute google research is that you can get creme eggs pretty much world wide but it won’t necessarily be Cadburys like it is in the UK? I sure hope so, I mean, you can still make this cocktail regardless seems as it doesn’t actually have creme eggs inside it, but it’d be a crying shame if you had never felt the joy of a creme egg.

Sidenote: there is a comment section at the end of this article, do let me know where you’re from and if you can get crème eggs.

Also this might be pretty niche a cocktail if not. But either way, we’re doing it.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Now, imagine capturing that same Easter magic in a glass. That's precisely what the Cadbury Creme Egg Cocktail does. It's a delightful concoction that blends the rich flavors of chocolate and cream with a hint of indulgent decadence. Whether you're hosting a festive gathering or simply treating yourself to a special Easter libation, this cocktail is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients and Bar Tools

Before we dive into mixing up this Easter delight, let's gather our ingredients. You'll need:

  • Quality vodka. But not just any vodka - Vanilla vodka.

  • A splash of chocolate liqueur to mimic the rich Cadbury chocolate shell. We really want Creme de cacao which is a clear chocolate liqueur - however it can sometimes be hard to come across in which case any chocolate liqueur will work.

  • Cream and milk to achieve that creamy consistency reminiscent of the egg's filling.

  • Vanilla syrup because why not go extra sweet, tis easter after all.

  • Optional garnishes - for the rim you will need dark chocolate and a creme egg.

As for the bar tools, keep it simple: a cocktail shaker, jigger, and strainer will suffice. Don't worry if you don't have fancy equipment – improvisation is part of the fun!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Now, let's get mixing! Here's a step-by-step guide to crafting your Cadbury Creme Egg Cocktail:

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Add the ingredients

  3. shake

  4. strain

  5. enjoy

It’s really that simple. Unless you want that chocolatey garnish in which case you have an extra step. Still a simple one, just something extra.

The Chocolate Rim Garnish

For the chocolate rim take a bar of dark baking chocolate and melt it in a bowl in the microwave. To melt properly, do it in 10 second burst stirring between each one till its full melted. Then dip your coupe in the chocolate and pop it in the fridge.

As for the creme egg, just cut it in half with a sharp knife, poke a cocktail stick through it and balance it on the side of the glass.

I also like to keep hold of a little bit of chocolate to grate directly on top of the cocktail for that extra touch.

Recipe FAQs

What is a creme egg suppose to taste like? The taste of a creme egg is just chocolate and fondant, the inside is pretty much just sugar. It’s less about the taste and more about the texture and richness of the creme egg that makes it special.

Can I swap out the Vodka for something else? Absolutely, we’ll talk more about variations in the next section but feel free to swap the vodka for whatever you want.

Is this a classic cocktail? Google creme egg cocktail and you will find a bunch of similar recipes. All different. This is not a classic cocktail, though it’s an obvious inspiration to base a cocktail on, especially during spring and easter.

Variations and Substitutions

You can pretty much swap every ingredient out in this cocktail for something else and it’ll still be delicious. Here are a few recommendations to get you started;

  • The milk and cream - swap this for coconut cream or swap both for a vegan alternative.

  • The vanilla syrup - try caramel syrup

  • Vanilla Vodka - try dark rum for something more toffee like.

  • Creme de Cacao - this can be swapped with pretty much any chocolate liqueur.
