Key Takeaways:

What are my Credentials

So why listen to me? who am I to tell you what’s a good and what’s a bad shaker? Well I’m Cameron, and I’ve worked managing bars for over a decade. I also solo run this website. Which means everything posted here, the hundreds of cocktails, are all from me.

I don’t say any of this to brag, I say it because it puts me in a unique position. You see, the best person to tell you what bartending equipment is worth the money is a experienced bartender, much like how you would prefer to get cooking advice from a qualified chef. But often, what’s good for the home bartender and professional bartender are vastly different.

Much like how professional chefs highly recommend equipment they don’t have to pay for and doesn’t make sense in any home kitchen.

Being that I’ve spent a good long time in a professional setting shaking hundreds of thousands of cocktails, I can confidently recommend a good cocktail shaker. But I also make cocktails at home, much like you. So I understand the needs of a home bartender and how they differ.

All of which I’ll be putting into practise today. So lets get to it.

What is the Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker

Basically put, the Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker is just a good cocktail shaker.

Cocktail shakers are real simple. The first ever cocktail shaker is thought to be the Boston shaker, that came onto the scene in and around the 1840s. That’s basically the same date the Victorian era BEGAN. So much has changed since then yet the Boston shaker remains basically the same and is still the industry standard. That should give you an idea on how basic these cocktail shakers are.

The Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker is a ‘better’ version. It’s something more modern.

What Makes The Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker Different?

The Elevated Craft Shaker has a few design elements. Which are as follows;

  • Insulated so your hands don’t get cold.

  • Built in measure so you don’t need to purchase that separate.

  • Designed so it doesn’t slip out your hand.

  • Designed so it doesn’t leak (which we will talk more about)

Just watch this video from the creator Adam Craft to learn more. But listen with a pinch of salt, remember, this guy created the product, he’s going to big it up.

So what did I think. Well for starters I thought this is all well and good, but why fix what’s not broken? Sure, there is a a bit of a technique to shaking a cocktail correctly but why not just take the short amount of time to practice, get it, and then you won’t need to worry about the sleek anti-leak design.

And as for cold hands, bro, relax. Just deal with slightly cold hands. It’s part of the experience.

To sum up, I really wanted to hate this. But I didn’t…

Anti Leak Design

It’s worth noting the anti leak design because I was reading the story about how this started. You can read it here but I’ll sum it up - Adam Craft was a home bartender, self taught. He was tired of cocktail shakers leaking so he built this.

Which got me thinking, two important notes here. 1, he is not a professional so it would be silly for me to judge this in a professional setting. It’s built by a home bartender for a home bartender. In which case, it really works well.

Also, that bloody anti leak design he keeps banging on about. It’s important. Why? Because shakers do leak and it is annoying, doesn’t matter much in bars but in your kitchen it’s a pain. Also cocktail shakers that are marketed towards home bartenders often are terrible and have a tendency to leak way more then the shakers you see in proper bar settings.

So why do I like this?

So here’s my quick snippet sum up. I wouldn’t use this if it was for a bar, I also wouldn’t recommend bartenders using this. It follows a similar design to the old Parisian shakers - just get a Parisian shaker. It’s also more expensive which doesn’t make sense for bar owners to pay for.

But for home bartenders, I really do think this is the best shaker on the market. It feels to me like it’s built more like a kitchen gadget - something sleek and well designed. As opposed to another home bar cart shaker. That’s important. It really does feel new and exciting.

The REAL Cocktail Shaker Test

So here’s the real test. I gave this to my mum with an Espresso Martini inside. Notably good to test your shake as home bartenders generally struggle to get a good foam (unless you’ve read these tips before). And she shook it, the first time she has ever touched a cocktail shaker. And that foam? Fluffy as could possibly be. So that right there won me over. Yes I thought, this is innovative. This is worth the money.

Share the Love

I also really like the way this shaker creates its own little experience. For example: you have some people round and you want to make cocktails, you’d normally go make them yourself because god forbid you let someone else shake and have an espresso martini up the side of your wall. You don’t have to worry about that with this. Just screw on that lid and toss it around to anyone who wants a play.

You can also pre make the cocktail in the shaker and take it to parties or BYOB restaurants.

So Is the Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker Worth It?

The big question is it worth it. Because it does cost way more then a regular shaker. And by quite some. So is the value it provides worth that inflated price tag? My answer is yes.

In short - If you’re a home bartender, this is the cocktail shaker for you.

Where to Buy the Elevated Craft Shaker

You can buy the shaker directly from the Elevated craft shaker website, However I much prefer shopping on there official amazon. Which for USA folk is here and for the UK is here.

You have more reviews to read on the amazon and it’ll often be discounted.

Though if you want to make the comparison yourself - check out this guide on cocktail shakers and what they all mean.
