Easy Cheesy Breakfast Pizza Recipe
Super easy and quick breakfast pizza. Perfect to start your day!
Recently I came across a breakfast pizza recipe by Gordon Ramsey. The problem was that it was quite complicated. Don’t get me wrong, I love complicated recipes. But for breakfast? No thank you.
However, I loved the idea of the recipe and started looking around for other breakfast pizza recipes to no success. Everything just seemed complex. That's not what you want first thing in the morning. You just want to shove something in the oven, fry something up and go.
So I decided to throw something together myself. Something delicious, easy to make and with enough room for personal adjustments. Enter, my easy cheesy breakfast pizza recipe.
Breakfast Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
Handful of rocket
1 Egg
200g Pizza dough
150g Mushroom sliced
½ Red onion Chopped
Seasoning to taste
30g Cheddar cheese
Drizzle of olive oil
Method
Preheat oven to 220°C/200 fan
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan on medium heat, once hot add the onions and cook till translucent
Once translucent add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes to get them nice and soft. Season to taste.
Roll out your pizza dough into a thin circular shape
Drizzle olive oil over the pizza base and put your pizza base in your pre-heated oven for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes take it out and pour over your cooked mushrooms and onions leaving half an inch space around the pizza. Sprinkle your cheese all over the top and put it back in the oven for a further 10 minutes.
Whilst your breakfast pizza is cooking crack an egg into the same frying pan you’ve just used for your mushrooms and onions. Fry the egg to your liking.
Once your pizza is cooked, top it with a handful of rocket, add your fried egg and your pizza is ready.
Optional step - a squeeze of mayonnaise over your pizza makes all the difference
Variations
The base of this recipe is simple. Take some premade pizza dough (you can make your own if you really want) top it with some breakfasty foods and cook for 10 minutes.
That makes this recipe wide open for personal variations. Whatever you like to have for breakfast you can pretty much add to this recipe (other then the obvious: cereal, oats etc...)
You want bacon? Add some bacon. You want avocado and salmon? Go for it, who's going to stop you?!
For me, I’m big on mushrooms for breakfast, so having a mushroom base works perfectly. But like I said, wide open for adjustments, so have fun with this recipe and PLEASE let me know how you decided to cook it by commenting below!
Breakfast Pizza step by step method with photos
Step One
Preheat oven to 220°C/200 fan
Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan on medium heat, once hot add the onions and cook till translucent
Once translucent add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes to get them nice and soft. Season to taste.
Or cook whichever breakfast food you want to add to your pizza breakfast. Remember, we will be adding this to the oven for a further 10 minutes so don’t fully cook.
Step Two
Roll out your pizza dough into a thin circular shape
Drizzle your pizza base with olive oil and put your pizza base in your pre-heated oven for 5 minutes.
Take it out and pour over your cooked mushrooms and onion leaving half an inch around the pizza. Sprinkle your cheese all over the top and put it back in the oven for a further 10 minutes.
Step Three
Whilst your breakfast pizza is cooking crack an egg into the same frying pan you’ve just used for your mushrooms and onions. Fry the egg to your liking. (or however you like your eggs in the morning, poach them if you damn well want)
Step Four
Once your pizza is cooked, top it with a handful of rocket, add your fried egg and your pizza is ready.
