The Blueberry Muffin Martini
Blueberry Schnapps
I recently partnered up with some good friends of mine (or at least I’d like to think so) who have developed a Swedish Schnapps brand - Flavar.
They have plenty of weird and wonderful flavours which I’ve made cocktails with. Like a lemon pie flavoured schnapps which I used to make this lemon pie martini, as you will see, not so dissimilar to this cocktail.
In fact, I’ve used this very expression (blueberry and lemon) to create a Ukraine cocktail complete with blue and yellow layers. Now that’s a cocktail I urge you to try, especially if you’re going to consider purchasing some blueberry and lemon schnapps.
I also used it for a Swedish flag layered shot recipe that you can see here.
That was part of my Eurovision cocktails. If you’re interested about those Eurovision drinks, check out the below articles.
5 Eurovision flag layered shot recipes
You can also download my FREE Eurovision party pack here, it’s filled with printable Eurovision games here. It’s the bundle that keeps on giving.
So if you do pick up a bottle, you have not 1, not 2, but 3 recipes to use it in.
You can pick it up from Amazon UK here if you’re wondering.
But this is not an advert for flavar, this is not a sponsored article, they’re not paying me for this so let’s move on, so the story goes like this…
The Cocktail Origins
Bit of a short origin story for this cocktail. Which is how I know you like it, short and sweet. Much like how I like my cocktails to be.
I had just finished coming up with all those lovely Eurovision cocktails you see above. I wanted to treat myself but I’d been making cocktails all day, so I thought, I just want something easy.
So I grab a bottle of the blueberry and lemon Flavar, mix it with a little bit of lemon juice and vodka. That’s it, 3 ingredients. Shake it up and I’m not going to lie to you, Just started drinking it straight from the Boston tin (that’s my cocktail shaker)
And I swear down, no bullsh*t, this thing actually tasted like a blueberry muffin.
So I tweaked it a little, added some foaming bitters to fluff it up so it’s light like a blueberry muffin, put it in an actual glass and sprinkled some blueberry muffin crumbs on top so the smell represents the taste more and hey presto!. This is what we’re left with.
To be honest the best cocktails are always those types. The ones you make without any clear intention, or from just wanting something easy. I mean, ease is what it’s all about, right?
Easy Cocktails
It’s a problem that even I encounter (keep in mind that I literally have a fully stocked bar in my house). And that problem goes like this.
You see a cool looking cocktail yet you don’t have the ingredients, which is fine, just pick some up from amazon or your local supermarket right? But then it turns out the ingredients are super hard to get hold of, then when you do finally get them you realize there’s about a million steps involved in making the drink.
Look at all my cocktail recipes on this website and you will see a theme. They’re all easy to make.
Simple recipes, flavour forward, that anyone can make with any amount of experience.
Well, most are. Sometimes I do like to get a little crazy with them just for fun.
Making Original Cocktails From Scratch
Heck, that’s the whole reason I created my cocktail course.
Well, that and to make a little bit of money of course, this website doesn’t pay my bills.
To show people that great cocktails don’t have to be difficult and that if you learn how to make original cocktails from scratch and not to just copy other peoples recipes, you can tweak any recipe you find, substitute ingredients, or make whatever you want.
Something unique to you. Whether that’s because you’re a professional bartender looking to create an entire cocktail menu, or a beginner who just wants to make something fun for themselves on the weekend. Like I said, it’s not about recreating other peoples recipes, so wherever your knowledge level is, you can learn and you can take something from the course.
You can learn more about this cocktail course of mine here.
I had an absolute blast making it so I know you will enjoy it and learn a thing or two!
